No experience? Perfect!
Whether you've been performing for years or have never stepped on a stage, we'll help you grow into a confident speaker and competitor.
What is Speech?
Speech is one of the most unique activities offered in high school because there truly is something for everyone.
The Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Speech program combines performance, public speaking, storytelling, critical thinking, and creativity. Students choose an event that matches their interests and talents—whether that's acting, comedy, storytelling, debate, informative speaking, or persuasive speaking.
Speech is about much more than giving presentations. It's about building confidence, finding your voice, connecting with others, and learning skills that last a lifetime.
No experience is required. Whether you've been performing for years or are trying something completely new, you'll have the opportunity to grow in a supportive, encouraging environment.
What You'll Gain
Confidence speaking in front of others
